Rachel Davies

Plenary Speaker, Workshop Presenter

Rachel Davies is a contemporary mosaic artist and instructor based in Dunblane, Scotland. She works primarily with natural materials like slate and stone, combining them with glass to create highly textured artworks. Her work is often abstract in composition, reflecting the organic forms, patterns, and surfaces found in the natural world.

In 2024, Rachel published her book, Mosaics Inspired by Nature: Creating Contemporary Art (Bloomsbury Publishing), an illustrated guide that explores the tools, materials, and techniques behind her process. She has also written for Mosaic and Glass magazine as well as regularly contributing to Grout, the magazine of the British Association for Modern Mosaic.

Rachel’s work has been exhibited widely. In 2024 she held her solo exhibition Inspired by Nature in Stirling, Scotland. This show included a collection of work from her studio practice, her 100 Days of Mosaics project and a collection of work from her students.

In addition to her studio practice, Rachel is a sought-after instructor.  She teaches courses both in-person and online, sharing her techniques with students around the world. She currently hosts an online membership programme, offering monthly creative prompts, live demonstrations, and an engaging, supportive community.

Rachel is a professional member and former Chair of the British Association for Modern Mosaic.
