
Rachel Silver is a New Zealand-born visual artist and educator specialising in community mosaics. Holding a Diploma in Craft Design, she trained in traditional mosaic techniques in Europe with French architect Pierre Mesguich before producing large-scale bespoke works in the UK. Her focus later shifted toward public and socially engaged art through studies in Urban Art Planning and Art Therapy.
Rachel creates site-specific mosaics, murals, pathways, seating, and sculptural works, collaborating with schools, neighbourhoods, and community groups to transform shared spaces through collective creativity. Her public art

commissions span New Zealand and internationally, including residencies in Brazil and India, community projects in Argentina and Chile, and participation in the Havana Art Biennial, Cuba.
She currently coordinates and teaches art within a Wellington mental health service, supporting wellbeing through creative programs.
